Research on terms

1 sentence pitch :


is the core of summarizing, all your book's content , just in ONE sentence.
and 1 sentence pitch have 3 elements,
- opening conflict
- obstacle
- quest

a good pitch is a description of what actually happens.
It's a description of a plot, not the theme.

Logline


A logline is a one-sentence summary of your script.
Your logline answers the question : what is your story about?


Why we need a logline ?
1. A logline keeps you focused as you write.
2. You need a logline to sell your screenplay.

Synopsis


Synopsis is a brief or condensed statment giving a general view of some subject.

A short writer about the story, a synopsis will tell you what's the story about.


Character Bio


Character Bio is a background, biography of a character.
Your character must have age, background, birth, family, all of these things determine how the character behave.


Storyline


Storyline is a content of a story, the plot of a story, the narrative of a work. (wikipedia)
A story from start to end, ex : scene 1 scene 2 scene 3 act 1 act 2 act 3.
Without a storyline you cant write your script


Scene Breakdown


Scene breakdown is a short summary of scene sequence from a script.
for ex : 
1-4 : in the castle, running away
5-8 : in the gate, chased by guards
9-12 : caught and killed

Beats


A beat is a unit of a scene in a story where there is an exchange between the characters and the action advances the story and shape the turning of that scene. Acts broken down into Scenes, and each scene is broken down into beats.

Plots


Plots is a literary term defined as the events that make up a story, particularly as they relate to one another in a pattern or sequence.

A short storyline inside your script. You can have many plots running around.
Plot : a big things to achieve
Subplot : small things to achieve in order to achieve the big Plot.


Turning Points


Turning point is an experience or event that change a character's life in a significant way.

Script


Script is a dialogue and instructions for a play, musical or other performance work.
In general , script is a written dialogue. (wikipedia)


It gives action and voice to your character.


Climax


Climax is the most interesting part of a story, in other words, the main thing of the story, when the major conflict finally resolved.


Hook / Teaser


A hook is a literary technique in the opening of a story that hooks the reader attention so that he or she will keep on reading.

Usually in the first seven minutes , the movie tell you what will happen next.


Conflict


A conflict, a character faces some difficulties, maybe antagonist, self problem, situation.
And the character must overcome it.


Dramatic Sequence 


A scene that leads into another scene. for ex : one thing cause A thing to cause B thing to cause C thing etc.

Resolution


After all the conflict, all the obstacles, he makes the resolution, the resolve of a problem. You need to close your story.

Outcome


An ending of your story.  Can have a good ending or a hanging ending, but make sure it works as a whole story.
